Himalayan rock salt originates from northern Pakistan and the area called the Salt Range not far from the Himalayan mountains. It is a natural rock salt that was created when the prehistoric oceans evaporated some 250 million years ago. This was long before the sub-continent Indian Plate moved north and crashed into Asia creating the Himalayan mountain range. The actual salt rocks vary in color, from pure white to beautiful light pink and deep red, all depending on their iron oxide content.

PERSIAN BLUE ROCK SALT is the rarest and most exclusive salt. It’s ideal for seafood, salads, French cuisine, and truffles. The taste is initially quite present before it changes and becomes mild with a silky-smooth sweetness. Highly popular with children for some reason!

Persian blue salt is extracted from a salt mine in northern Iran. The intriguing blue color occurs during the forming of the salt’s crystalline structure, as intense pressure is exerted on the salt deposits. The individual crystals fracture the light in an unusual way creating an optical illusion that makes the salt appear more or less shimmering blue.


BLACK contains three shimmering KALA NAMAK salt stones from India. It’s a salt that stands out, as a secret ingredient you would like more of but cannot really identify. There’s a hint of egg lurking behind the spicy and slightly smoky taste that comes from the salt's high sulfur content. A really nice salt, not least for vegan cooking and dishes like tofu scramble, chickpea omelets and fruit salads.

Grated Kala namak salt goes very well with an Indian chaat, a chutney or a raita, but is perhaps even more common as a spice for deep-fried snacks. Or other snacks. Tear some over Friday night's long-awaited popcorn and enjoy them with an exciting new flavor.

ROSE SALT ROCKS are mined from the Bolivian Andes. The salt is mild and sweet, great for your everyday cooking and very well suited for meat and vegetable dishes. This beautiful rosy-pink salt contains up to eight times more iron and up to five times more potassium and calcium than sea salt. It has a slightly lower sodium content, making it perfect for those who have to be careful with their sodium intake. As with every natural rock salt, a little goes a long way!
